Leaking Pipe Water Damage Restoration in North Raleigh NC

Dec 2016

After Carolina Water Damage Restoration’s mitigation team received an emergency call after hours about a leaking pipe behind a refrigerator, they responded immediately. The technicians arrived to see water flooding the kitchen floor of the North Raleigh home, also affecting a dining room. While an emergency plumber fixed the leak, Carolina Water Damage started mitigating the damages. After pulling up the vinyl floor in the refrigerator area where the leak was, we learned that this had been a low profile chronic problem until now- we uncovered a large patch of rotted subfloor. After removing the non-salvageable subfloor, vinyl, drywall, and insulation, our team deployed an array of dehumidifiers, fans, and other equipment to dry the home as soon as possible. It is important to dry the home quickly and thoroughly to prevent any secondary damages such as mold or FURTHER rot in this particular case. In the picture below you can see the refrigerator area after we removed the rotted subfloor. Following the dry-out by our mitigation specialists, Carolina Water Damage Restoration focused on repairing the rot. Our master carpenter braced some slightly damaged joists in the crawlspace which support the subfloor, replaced some framing, and then laid a new sheet of subfloor down. This thorough rot repair ensures the integrity of the home and gives it the proper strength to support the weight it’s meant for! You can see the finished rot repair below. Once the structure of the home was back in order, we began the restorative process. Carolina Water Damage Restoration installed brand new hardwood floors, new beautiful vinyl, and trim. The insurance company also covered giving the dining room and kitchen fresh coats of paint throughout! You can see the Before and After pictures below.

Sewage Backup in Raleigh, NC

Dec 2016

In May, 2016, Carolina Water Damage Restoration responded to an emergency call about a toilet leaking from it’s base and flooding the bathroom it was in. Our mitigation specialists responded immediately to the call and diagnosed the problem as a backed up sewer drain pipe. This caused any use of water to mix with raw sewage and return back up to the house through the base of the toilet. This posed serious health risks for the occupants of the home until the problem was fixed and the home was sanitized. Luckily, Carolina Water Damage Restoration stops at nothing to fix your problems. Our plumbing team dug underground in the customers yard to reveal the waste pipe that was clogged. After working until nearly 1:00 AM with lights set up outside, we were able to unclog the waste pipe and rebuild a more efficient clean out access for the homeowner. Our IICRC certified mitigation team scoped what needed to be torn out of the home and what was able to be kept and sanitized. We took out layers of ceramic tile, cement board, underlayment, a vanity, carpet, trim, drywall, etc. After the scoped demo, we learned the slow leak was happening long enough to rot out the subfloor. We removed all the rot before setting up our high powered fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the home. Here are some pictures from after the necessary demolition. Think of the framing and subfloor as the core of your home. It supports all building materials and everything in your home. Without caring for rot to your subfloor or framing could lead to massive structural damage and extreme danger to occupants. Carolina Water Damage Restoration took time to make sure we removed and replaced the rotted subfloor and framing perfectly to maintain the integrity of our customer’s home. Take a look. After all drying and structure repair is complete, the restorative portion of work begins. Some call this, “putting it back together”. We installed new ceramic tile, vanity, paint job, trim, carpet, and more to make this home look even better than pre-loss condition. We then moved back all furniture safely from a storage pod without a scratch or nick on any of it. Here are some pictures of the final product.

We had a customer living in Durham, NC who’s supply line for their toilet busted and took out the sheet rock and insulation behind it. If this issue didn’t get taken care of, dried out, and repaired in a timely manner, there could have been more issues. After we removed the damaged sheet rock and insulation, we made sure there were no signs of foundational damage or mold issues, and then we reinstalled new sheet rock and insulation. Finally we repainted the area and left it as good as new.

Toilet Supply Line Leak in Raleigh NC

Oct 2016

Residents of Raleigh experienced a leaky water supply line to their toilet, flooding the floor of it’s bathroom. After a thorough inspection, we could map out exactly where the sub-floor was wet using our moisture meters. According to our meter in the picture below, the sub-floor was nearly saturated (even underneath ceramic tile and concrete board). After removing the ceramic tile, a layer of cement board which backed the tile, trim, and minimal drywall; we were able to continue with our Dry-out process. Now that the bare first layer of sub-floor and framing could breathe, we could dry it from both top and bottom sides (crawlspace and 1st floor). We deployed a large fan in the crawlspace and a large fan partnered with a dehumidifier in the bathroom. This combination creates a desert-like atmosphere in those areas and dries all materials quickly. When all drying is confirmed by a final moisture inspection, the Restoration process starts. This is when we build back any lost non-salvageable material. In this situation, we needed to put in new tile, drywall, and trim. As you can see, we are always up for helping the homeowner upgrade their home along the way! It’s always the best time to and we want you to love the final product.

Major Sink Overflow in Raleigh, NC

Sep 2016

When a Raleigh resident’s sink overflowed from their upstairs bathroom and leaked all the way down through their first floor ceiling, they knew to call Carolina Water Damage Restoration. Immediately following the 9:00 PM call, our team of mitigation specialists responded to the call and were on-site in no time. Our team arrived to see a flooded bathroom upstairs and a collapsing ceiling downstairs. After extracting the water, tearing out unsalvageable material, and securing the customer’s items, we deployed our high powered fans and dehumidifiers to dry the home. It is important to do this to prevent any secondary damages such as mold growth or rot in a home. Here are some pictures from after all the necessary demolition work. After the mitigation is complete and an inspection is done to make sure everything dried thoroughly, the restoration process begins. This involves putting the home back together and making it look like nothing ever happened. Downstairs, we replaced the ceiling with new drywall along with painting the whole thing to ensure you can’t tell where the hole was or that there ever was one. Upstairs, we replaced their vanity with a new updated one, new ceramic tile, granite counter tops and a fresh paint job. We love to help customers upgrade their homes along the way to make a minor setback a major comeback. Here are some pictures of when the work was all complete!
