Short version – good color consult, poor quality, poor communication, does not do what was agreed upon, Jeff (owner) disappears after day one except to collect, and does not honor the warranty. Long version - We selected PBJ based on Google reviews and the color consult. The color consult was a positive and we’re happy with the colors. Unfortunately, the quality of the work and lack of engagement and communication from Jeff was very disappointing. I'm guessing the overall positive reviews come from exterior paint jobs and I could see how PBJ may be better suited for that work. For our interior job, involving trim and finer detail work, they completely missed the mark. Scheduling was very difficult as we had to vacate the house. Despite agreeing to a general timeframe, we could not get Jeff to commit to a start date until basically the day before they wanted to start. Nearly everything I discussed with Jeff during the estimate and on day one of the job, did not get communicated effectively to the crew and they did whatever they wanted. The work overall was very sloppy. As an example, Jeff told me they would take the doors down and spray them. I even made room in my garage at this request. Instead, they rolled/brushed them while hung, without taking off any hardware and got paint on doorknobs and hinges. They came back out to try to clean the hardware, but only did a portion of the work and got annoyed when I had them back out again, and even still, I keep finding paint on hardware that I missed originally. They also got paint on most of the light switches and outlets. In one case, they forgot to take off the outlet cover, so instead of taking the time to take it off, they just painted around it. They got paint on my newly refinished hardwoods and cabinets. Again, they came back out to try to scrape it off, but it was not effective, leaving unclean lines and an overall sloppy appearance. Jeff was very engaging during the estimate and on day one. Despite the numerous issues noted above, we never saw him again. He never did any sort of walkdown and the only time he proactively communicated with us was to collect payment. Fast forward 3 months, we are already experiencing issues with the “repairs” they performed. For example, we have a corner where the drywall tape had failed. We talked to Jeff about it both during the estimate and on day one and he said they could fix it. Their fix was to spackle it, so of course it has already broken away again in the exact same spot. When I asked him to fix it under the so-called warranty (and followed up multiple times over a month before he responded), he refused saying it was caused by settling. This is an interior wall on a 13-year-old house. He also claimed his supervisor had emailed me about it, but he never did.

Pbj painting has done a very good job. Their process of work was very clear and they were always one step front. They worked as professional team.

Pbj painting used to do clean work at all times. When they finished their work they clean them. They have very good habits in their team and the coordination was very good in their team.

Pbj Painting painted the exterior of my house in Rochester Michigan. The exterior boards were rotting in some places and these were replaced like new! Prep work was excellent - no detail left alone. The work was done quickly and very professional. Great job and value!
