Lakefront Builders

Stay away from James this guy is the cheapest in Livingston but you get what you pay for. My new boat house that James built is about to fall apart. Go with Mosley and wait a bit longer they will get it done the right way.

I contracted with Lakefront Builders to construct a 5'x80' pier and a 42'x32' boathouse. The owner/operator James Stetler was very easy to work with. His quote and completed price was very competitive and better than other Lake Livingston area builders. We made some changes during construction and James was quick to provide a quote and incorporate the additional construction. James was equally helpful with any issues we felt needed to be addressed during construction and has returned post completion to adjust any concerns we had. I would and have reccomended Lakefront Builders to other folks. That being said anyone having something constructed in/on Lake Livingston should remember the lake is man made and the bottom has numerous obstacles like giant tree stumps that will effect placement and subsequent allignment of support piers...nice job James and thank you.

Poor quality workmanship. We contracted James to build a brand new boat house with dock and jet ski lifts. Once he completed the job, the roof started sagging and the deck became slanted within a year. It took numerous unreturned phone calls and finally a letter from our lawyer to get James to come back out to fix the problem. He said everything should be good to go but now after another year, having major issues again with the roof sagging. Our neighbors said when they installed the initial pylons, they didn’t use a pile driver so the base of the entire boat house isn’t even secure. Now we are out a lot of money and we will have to pay someone else to fix all of these issues. He might have the best price but there is a reason he’s cheaper. Everyone stay away!

We've used Lakefront Builders several times the past three years. They've constructed two boathouses, two bulkheads, and a large deck for us. Every job was completed timely, and to our satisfaction. You can't ask for a better group of guys to work on your projects. They always had the lowest bids and were easy to work with.
