Brookfield Midcentury Mdern Interior Remodel

Sep 2014

This midcentury modern Brookfield home was remodeled with an open concept design in mind. Load bearing walls were removed to allow for an open transition from the family room to the dining room, to the kitchen and then into the mudroom. The area is now built for entertaining and makes use of all aspects of the space. Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances add the stainless touch for an updated look and professional grade cooking. Cherry quarter sawn cabinets were chosen for their linear design while matching the long stretch of granite countertops sourced from India. To bring everything together, recessed can lights compliment the under cabinet lighting as well as the color changing LED lights illuminating the ceiling. The lights turn green for Packer games and red for Badger games!

Greenfield Wisconsin Master Bathroom Remodel

Sep 2013

This gray and white master bath was chosen as the perfect timeless look for these Greenfield, Wisconsin homeowners. Starting off from the hallway, the previous carpeting was removed and Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring was installed leading up to the master bathroom. Danby Honed Marble countertops were used with Kohler Devonshire under mount sinks. Tempesta Neve 8" x 20" marble tile was used on the bathroom floor. Kohler Devonshire faucets and towel rings in polished chrome add the finished touch. Plato prelude maple cabinets in a Shadow finish add the perfect contrast to the marble. For extra sunlight a Velux Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylight was installed with an integrated rain sensor. A view from inside the shower. Tempesta Neve 8" x 20" polished marble tile is used on the shower walls while a 2" tumbled marble tile covers the floor. Danby Honed Marble seat matches the bathroom countertop as well. For a dark contrast, glass antique moss brick tile in Whisper Grey and Charcoal colors were used on the shower wall. A niche with glass shelves neatly holds the soaps. Kohler traditional rain head Bancroft handshower and body sprays add the spa like feel. Mirabelle two piece comfort height toilet and white wainscoting add a nice touch. Clear tempered glass is used to divide the toilet from the rest of the bathroom.

Racine Kitchen Remodel & Mud Room Addition For Dogs

Aug 2013

The homeowners of this (Caledonia) Racine home were looking to update their kitchen and create a very functional, durable, and low maintenance design. With a busy lifestyle and five dogs, these veterinarians needed a better way to manage their space around their family's needs. Starting out with the Kitchen, this is the space where their dogs previously ate twice a day and drank water on a routine basis. As you can imagine, the dogs were taking over their cooking space. The conclusion was to update the kitchen to a traditional design with modern appliances and then build a mud room addition to provide plenty of resources for the dogs. After the renovation, the dogs have their own personal bowls and a customized washing area for when they come in from outside. The standing height dog washing station includes a Sterling shower base and Delta wall mount hand shower for easy washing without back pain. Even better, the lower cabinet opens up exposing retractable stairs for the retrievers’ easy access to bathing. An Elkay under mount sink for fresh water and easy draining was complimented by a Kohler Purist Lavatory faucet. These dogs quite possibly are the only ones with their own under mount sink! On the opposite side of the washing station is plenty of cabinet space for dog food and other items. Hooks were also conveniently added for hanging leashes by the door. As if this was not enough, the dogs can exit the mud room and run into the fenced backyard with their own in-ground pool! The dogs love the new amenities but the homeowners have a spectacular kitchen, improved dining/coffee experience, an efficient flow from the kitchen to the backyard, and functional designs to make their life easier.

1926 Wauwatosa Bungalow Kitchen Remodel

Jul 2013

The owners of this charming 1926 bungalow felt their kitchen was small, drab and poorly functioning. Primary objectives were to stay within the existing kitchen footprint, introduce efficiency in storage, flexibility in use and accommodate modern appliances without overpowering the space. With a blank canvas, the kitchen’s new counter-depth Sub-Zero refrigerator, Electrolux double wall ovens, Wolf gas cooktop and Asko dishwasher were situated to maximize every square inch of counter space for flexible use and food preparation. A drop zone was created to the left of the refrigerator adjacent to the rear entrance. The countertop slides past the cabinetry to the right of the wall ovens for a coffee maker cubby. The new cherry frameless custom cabinetry in a light amber tone with shaker style doors and crown was selected by the owners for continuity with the home's period characteristics while introducing modern updates reflecting their personal taste highlight the surfaces. With an emphasis on increased storage, the cabinetry incorporated custom pull-outs at the cooktop, a Rev-A-Shelf blind corner optimizer, recycle center, tray dividers, and roll-out shelves. To find harmony and balance with large appliances in a moderate kitchen, the appliances were strategically placed for use by multiple occupants and the refrigerator and dishwasher were clad in matching cherry paneling. For optimum utensil, pet accessories, and Tupperware storage, the adjacent dining room wall was cleverly reframed to accommodate greater depth cabinetry which was installed into the wall for increased functionality and a greater open footprint. New Marvin clad casement windows with lead tape continued the period look with improved efficiency. Additional lighting schemes provided ample flexibility of use based on mood or function. Included were recessed task lighting, under cabinet xenon counter attack lights for bright countertops, highlighted backsplashes, as well two kitchen sink pendants for modern flare. A matching dimmable chandelier illuminates a custom table for additional food preparation and morning reading. Multiple work triangles were incorporated into the new layout with comfortable traffic flow throughout the kitchen. Budget considerations for custom cabinetry and new mechanical locations were countered with oversized porcelain floor tile and a prefinished metal table base to keep within budget. 1" x 4" mosaic meshed porcelain floor tile matching the oversized 12" x 24" staggered floor tile at doorway thresholds provide a decrease in scale and transition to the existing flush wood flooring. Marble backsplash tile reinforces a timeless quality while the crackled glass mosaic tile produces a modern flare with durability. Blue Lagos Caeserstone Quartz countertops, a Blanco Diamond under mount sink and a Kohler Forte fixtures provide low maintenance selections with durable finishes. The owners are delighted that their kitchen's layout now functions effectively for their needs with innovative storage, modern appliances and ample countertop space, while affording them a matching timeless quality with their reflected personalities incorporated.

Milwaukee Master Bathroom Remodel

Jun 2013

This master bathroom remodel featured a zero threshold walk-in shower in lieu of a secondary entrance and uncompressed circulation for flexibility in individual uses and abilities at the shower, toilet and vanity area. Frameless tempered shower glass provides depth and an improved lighting scheme illuminates the master bath for vision and contrast. Ivory honed Travertine tile lines the floor and continues as a 2"x2" mosaic tile at the shower floor to prevent slipping. The homeowners functional needs were met with three sturdy grab bars to aid with balance within the shower and toilet area. A Kohler Tresham toilet was selected in comfort height, and a Delta Dryden sink faucet for ease of use. The vanity location with ample countertop surface for dual use contributes to a direct path to the shower and toilet area in the new layout. Painted maple cabinetry emulates the home's elegant woodwork detailing with beautiful crown molding extending over the vanity mirror. To reinforce flow, provide low maintenance durability and meet the homeowner's timeless taste, the shower walls and bathroom wainscot are adorned with an oversized ceramic subway tile and classic cap. Travertine floor tile and curved shower mosaic ceiling compliment the painted cabinet and tranquil wall color. The decorative glass mosaic wainscot banding tile, shower feature wall and accessory corner lends itself to the calming waters of their childhood homes in Puerto Rico, close to the homeowners' hearts.
