We recently moved into a 1962 split level in Maple Leaf and the broker on the sale recommended Woodcrafters for the extensive renovations that were required before moving in. This turned out to be excellent advice, as Travis and Charles (the project manager) did a great job from start to finish. The work included demolition and replacement of an old deck, total rebuild of three bathrooms, moving walls, refinishing floors, and repairing rot and other existing issues that came to light in the course of the renovations. Travis was extremely conscientious and transparent with the bidding, budgeting, and communication surrounding the project. We routinely got updates on the work in progress and were notified of any potential variations up front. There were close to a dozen change orders and everything was done by the book, with review of costs and alternatives prior to any work being done. Charles brought a similar level of care to the job site. His work was great and the house was kept in very clean condition--with everything that could be damaged wrapped or covered--throughout the months-long job. There were a number of occasions where we would come by at 6:00 or 7:00 and Charles would still be at work. We've been in the house since Christmas and we're still noticing some of the nice detail he put into the trim. The last point to note is that Woodcrafters were very adaptable and able to easily resolve problems that arose in the course of the work. Naturally, there will be some unexpected issues in a big project and these guys were exceptionally flexible in working out good solutions. Between some clever plumbing and wiring reroutes and framing out some new walls, they were able to transform a downstairs office/workroom into a real guest bedroom. If that wasn't enough, they were cheerful and accommodating throughout the work. There's no question they'd be the first call when and if we need to do anything else.

We have a fantastic house and while no construction project is completely without some bumps, this was as good as anyone could have hoped for--we finished on time and on budget. The best part was that we were able to design the house to meet our needs and aesthetic, with Travis' help regarding his experience, and the reality of our existing foundation and infrastructure (that last part was a key aspect of why our prior architects weren't the right fit--they had grand plans that our foundation wouldn't support or that disregarded plumbing or other structural realities). Travis was transparent with his costs and provided accurate quotes before any work started. This allowed us to expand the scope of our project and have confidence in the cost implications to the entire budget. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. Overall, loved working with Travis and the entire Woodcrafter's crew. Great experience. And while they weren't the cheapest bid--they were definitely the best value from a price/quality, perspective.

Woodcrafters was an absolute joy to work with. While this was not our first house, it was our first remodel and we were unsure what to expect. Travis did an initial walkthrough during the middle stages of our design process and ultimately submitted a bid for our project. His offer was pretty much in the middle of the other two offers and after thinking it over, we decided to go with Woodcrafters. Through the whole process, were kept constantly in the loop in terms of both work progress and budget. Some of our friends asked us if we planned to show up at the home often to check up on things, but with the email updates, the detailed meeting agendas, and the online calendar/photo updates, I really couldn't imagine why someone would ever need to. In the end, everything finished on-time and we were extremely happy with the results. In the past, we had viewed homes that needed some serious love and sort of stayed away out of fear of the unknown. However, after working with Travis and his team, I look at those homes completely differently. Any fears about going $50,000 over budget for no apparent reason or schedules going months overdue are now completely gone. If you're thinking about doing a remodel, I would say 1) get an architect, 2) go with someone like Woodcrafters, and 3) just go for it.
