The Kerry Residence

Aug 2020

Adding a second story to a home is a big job, but that was just the beginning for the Kerry's. The owners always wanted to have a newer house with more square footage for their family, as well as a radically different style than the single story ranch home they were used to. By the end of the project, we had retrofitted the single story home to support the second story, rebuilt the interior and exterior, and even added new xeriscaping and hardscaping to complement the updated look.

The Strong Residence

Nov 2008

When the Strong family was ready to leave their old off-white interior behind, they wanted to replace it with something warmer, more livable, and with a lot more personality. We couldn’t be happier with how this extensive remodel turned out.

The Bailey Residence

Aug 2001

Sometimes a Remodel Isn’t Enough. Finding the perfect home for your family anywhere is a challenge, but it’s even tougher in a real estate market like Sunnyvale’s. That’s why the Bailey's decided to get a new home without finding a new lot. Their new home was completely re-designed and custom built from the ground up to their exact specifications so it would fit their needs to a T. Their new two-story home features a contemporary style with Mediterranean details throughout, from the marble-floored entryway to the wrought iron stair banisters. The bright wood and off-white tones compliment an eclectic collection of rich red decor, furniture, and lighting fixtures, giving the home a unique look and feel that is perfect for entertaining, everyday life, and everything in between. The Geary Residence

At Fernandez Designs and Builders, we love combining designs and styles that you don’t always see together. When you first see this two story farmhouse home with a cream and natural stone exterior, you might expect a ranch style or farmhouse chic interior. Instead, you’re greeted by a bold but functional blend of missionary and transitional styles. The generous family room feels even larger thanks to 20 foot vaulted ceilings and plentiful windows. The living room is overlooked by a catwalk that is accessible by spiral staircase, complete with wrought iron and wood banisters. When redesigning your home, it’s smart to give your family room to grow. One unique feature we added was a combined bedroom for the family’s boys, which could later be converted into two separate rooms. Another was a separate living space for the in-laws, which includes its own bedroom and bathroom. These relatively small features give the house substantially more flexibility, ensuring that the owners can continue to love their home for years to come.

The Landon Residence

We like to say “if you can dream it, we can build it,” but only a few projects really let us put that to the test. For this project, the client came to us with a very clear vision: he wanted to turn his home into a castle. Working one on one with our designers allowed us to translate his ideas into design choices that worked with his existing home, resulting into a truly one-of-a-kind project.
