High Efficiency Boiler Upgrade

Sep 2014

We started by removing the old 350,000 BTU cast iron boiler and the 80 gallon water heater. Then we installed two Lochinvar Knight 200,000 BTU high efficiency boilers and a 80 gallon domestic water tank to supply the heat and hot water for the 12 unit apartment buildings. The boilers run together in what is called a cascade mode. The cascade mode increases the longevity of the overall system while allowing the systems efficiency to reach its full potential. Separate zones were created for both radiant heat and fin tube radiators. and a hydraulic separator was installed to assist in the removal of any unwanted air and dirt particles, while further improving system energy efficiency and allowing the use of smaller pumps for each circuit
