Oak City Contracting & Repair

Marcus Hicks, who owns “Oak City Contracting and Repairs” is a scam artist along with his "partner" Joseph Smothers, who owns "The Humble Abode". Marcus was contracted to build a front porch and an addition with side porch on my home back in October. We gave him a deposit, plus additional payments. Joseph took payments from us in his business' name on behalf of Marcus multiple times. At one point Marcus asked for an additional payment; we questioned the reasoning and asked for copies of receipts. At that point Marcus bailed on the project. Between him and Joseph we paid out nearly $8,000 and all we have to show is six holes for footers and a trench for the addition, which had to be redone because they were not to code. Both Marcus and Joseph are now being investigated by Granville County Sheriff's office for a felony due to this matter.

Professional Service and outstanding quality! Marcus was very responsive for my project. We wanted to renovate our old bathroom and Marcus helped us bring our visiuon to life with our new waterfall shower and seamless bathroom. He is very polite and paid attention to detail to make sure we got exactly what we wanted! We will use his services in the future and will tell all of our friends about him!

Did not show for estimate or Sent a text @ 11:05 and states they could not come due to a family emergency that morning. My day was ruined Why didn't they call earlier in the morning when the emergency occurred I normally don't look at text. Very unprofessional. I am a medical professional and do not have all day to wait for irresponsible companies. What ashame I have alot of projects to do.He sounded like he knew what to do..ashame he has no work ethic. When you can't come call the person at least as soon as you know you need to cancel.
