Welcome to Porch Pro Talk, a weekly hypothetical question sourced from our own pros’ experiences that explores the day to day issues of being a contractor. With this forum, we hope to create a place where pros can communicate with one another and in the end, utilize the opinions they find here to better their own business.
Business is steady. You receive a call from a county over (about an hour away) from a person looking for what will be an average job with an average profit. You don’t have to bid for it, the job is yours if you want it.
Do you take the job? How far is too far for you to say, “sorry, we don’t work in that area…”? What elements would make work outside of your preferred work area worthwhile?
