Lawton Remodels

If we could give negative star ratings, we would. My wife and I were happy to purchase a home more recently that needs updates. We proceeded to hire Jeff Lawton to remodel our small master bathroom In late May 2017. The bathroom is a simple, shower, one sink and toilet, the project he wrote on his estimate would take 2 weeks at most. We heard that projects run late, so we planned on having a finished bathroom by the time we had friends visit in late June. We would never hire him for another project and would caution any one considering hiring Jeff. We are young and have learned our lesson, we paid him in full when the project was "complete". After a few days of use we discovered that the shower pan did not drain properly and the glass shower doors banged loudly when ever used. Not only is this obnoxious but it increases the likelihood of doors chipping and eventually cracking. We contacted Jeff with our concerns. While at first Jeff was responsive and made promises to correct these issues the issues were never resolved. Here we are at 10/17/2017 and the man has stopped calling or texting. My wife practically begged him to come back and hang the bathroom doors back up as our second shower has a leak and we need to use the master bath! Our last correspondence, he gave us his word that he would come on Monday 10/16 that is 3 days ago and after many calls and texts to him, he continues to be unresponsive. Prior to this he came up with ludicrous excuses as to why he was unable to show up on the days he told us he would finish the work, not just the fixes to his original work but the original work too. Now, we have shower doors sitting in our bedroom and our shower is still not draining properly. Other issues discovered: floor tile very unevenly installed, caulking not applied in some spots, grout not wiped off thoroughly from tile and hardening on top of the tile, pen marks on tile that have now been sealed with sealant, faucet is wobbly and not securely installed. Working with Jeff Lawton has been an exercise in patience and the ultimate remodeling nightmare.

We had Jeff remodel our shower a few months ago and he did such a wonderful job installing it and getting everything just the way we wanted it, with floor to ceiling walls and a custom tall shower door. He was flexible with our schedule and ensured that we were not without a shower for more than 2 days. He also took great care to ensure that our house was protected while he was working and taped down paper in the areas he was walking through to make sure nothing damaged our flooring. We also thought we had a problem about a month after the install and as soon as we called him he came out in the next day or two, quickly determined it was a minor issue, and had us fixed up that very night. We are now having him do the remainder of our bathroom remodel and our 2nd 1/2 bath as well, by putting in new tile, vanities, toilets, and lighting fixtures. We would definitely recommend Jeff for anyone looking for an honest contractor who does a great job!
