We did a roof leak detection service for this customer for a reported roof leak that was damaging the ceiling above the stairway. The home owner got several quotes. All of them assured him that the roof leak was below the chimney and "would not be stemming from the chimney". I told the customer that 9 out of ten leaks we like his result in wear and tear from all the way around the chimney. After doing the leak detection service we found SIX different leaks. And we found another repair that was behind the chimney. And, because we are thorough we replaced a piece of plywood that was not up to our standards and low and behold we found a major mistake involving his heating and aircondition duct work. Because we removed everything from around the chimney including any damaged wood I was able to get a good look at his flu box and noticed that he had ducting inside the flu box pinned up against the chimney (not good) and it was only protected with the lid from a Home Depot bucket (see photograph).

We removed a leaking flat roof section over the garage area. We completely tore out all of the existing framing because the pitch was not adequate. All the framing was redone with new fascia. The new roof deck had a good pitch for water run off. Lack of a good roof pitch is the main reason for premature flat roof failure and is against local building code not to install a proper pitch when installing a new flat roof. We also found the roof t be leaking underneath the Spanish clay tile roof directly below the flat roof. After the flat roof was completed we removed the tiles from around the flat roof and replaced the underlayment. We installed new mortar and fabricated new flashing to prevent any wind blown rain from getting under the roof at this junction.

We were called out to cover with plastic and then repair a leaking valley section of the roof In Dove Canyon. We carefully removed all the roofing tile from the leaking valley area and carefully stacked it aside for later re-use, then remove the valley metal and all the felt paper. With everything removed we were able to find the actual source, repair the decking, install new felt paper, and warranty the area for a lifetime repair that will be the last place on the roof to ever be fixed again.
