Sometimes the mass of cords we have dangling from our desktops are just too long. There are numerous products on the market aimed at wrapping or organizing our cords, but there’s actually a super easy, no-cost way to make your cords behave.

Tightly coil the cord around the pencil. Tape the ends down with tape.
Heat the cord evenly with the hairdryer, about 90 seconds of high heat on all sides. Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.
Once cool, remove the tape and remove the coiled cord from the pencil.
If you want the coil to be tighter, and the cord shorter, here’s a simple trick: twist the cord backwards to reverse the coil. This will make the coil tighter, and the cord appear shorter.
