  | Naples (Long Beach) California Low Maintenance Beauty | Jul 2012 | Homeowner wanted the freedom to travel with out his landscape showing signs of neglect. He liked the look of grasses, wanted color in his front yard, drip irrigation, with very little landscape maintenance required. Challenges: Tree roots, partial shade, clay soil, and a semi-arid coastal environment. Solutions: Some tree roots were removed, the soil was amended and tilled with Kellogg Amend, corn gluten was applied to deter weeds, and 4 inches of wood mulch was applied after planting and drip irrigation installation. Plants selected required moderate (grasses) to very low water (CA natives.) During planting, the Tree of Life recommended planting method was utilized with mycorrhizal powder application to the plant roots to speed up root establishment. Plant irrigation needs were monitored for one month. Professional landscape maintenance/management was provided one to two times a year. Results: Neighbors would stop to admire the garden and ask about the plants in the design. Happy client traveled and the garden looked beautiful when he returned. | $8k | Long Beach, CA |
