An avid golfer, the client wanted this vacation home to be modern, comfortable and classic. The furnishings combine antiques, and contemporary pieces, set against a backdrop of clean lines.The house was almost completely torn down, and rebuilt and completely customized: bathrooms done in marble and custom tile, the kitchen with commercial style appliances and custom cabinets throughout. The large expanse of windows/doors are triple insulate, low e glass, and the solar shades are remote controlled for easy access.

Screening room

The criteria for this screening room was to make it feel like an outdoor Roman amphitheatre/1920's movie palace. The "night sky" ceiling is patterned in fiber optics to reflect the star locations of the Southern Cross in Tanzania ca 1910, the custom columns are backlit to provide a glow and ambience, and the custom mural depicts downtown Los Angeles in the distance. In the bar area outside the screening room, the client wanted the feel of a 17th century English pub. Careful attention was given to each wall to ingegrate the custom hewn wood battens into the divergent ceiling heights and walls.

The clients, a painter and a screenwriter, wanted an eclectic house, whose architecture was inspired by combining the style of a French country villa with an eastern zen approach, comfortable living spaces, a north facing artist's studio and open floor plan for enteraining. Incorporating rustic hand hewn wood and reclaimed limestone wood floors; venetian plastered walls; carved stone mantles from India; artisan crafted custom iron and glass front entry door, hand made recycled wood kitchen and bath cabinets, this house is not only mixes English and French antiques with accessories from India and China, but adds elements of modern taste and design with the clean simple furniture.
