Project Q&A with the homeowner and pro

What was the homeowner's main goal or motivation for doing this project?

Sojo Design

Sojo Design This was originally four units I demolished and made into one. The goal was all about having one big space right on the ocean so the client could have large entertaining spaces. They wanted sandy beach tones with sea foam accents.

How long did this project take?

Sojo Design

Sojo Design Project Duration: 2 years (Construction shut down during high season) Design: 3 months Building Permits: 4 months Phase 1 Construction: 6 months Phase 2 Construction: 6 months

Who was the contractor?

How big is the space?

Sojo Design

Sojo Design 15,000 sq. ft.

What are some of the key materials you used?

Sojo Design

Sojo Design We used a Turkish marble called sea foam and a darker marble called driftwood throughout the home. In the guest suites I used a white wash rift cut oak floor. In the movie theater I used a cork floor with a leather wallpaper.

What was your biggest challenge and/or biggest takeaway working on this project?

Sojo Design

Sojo Design Keeping the space open. There are 180 degree views of the ocean in the living room and I wanted to make sure to create a cozy space but still keep an open feel. I was able to create intimate spaces by putting in credenzas, which separated spaces without blocking the view.

What is the style?

Sojo Design
