You know those obscure fun little holidays that always pop up, National Pancake Day, National Pig Day, National Goof Off Day…well when I stumbled on Incredible Kid Day I knew that “holiday” was definitely one we would be celebrating! Incredible Kid Day is celebrated the third Thursday in March and originated as a letter writing campaign designed to boost self esteem in children. Parents are encouraged to write letters and include words of encouragement, support, and tell their children why they are so special.
The more I thought about this “holiday” I really wanted to do something special to celebrate my incredible kids and not only tell them how much they mean to me but show them how much their sweet spirits bring joy to our lives, so I planned an impromptu Incredible Kid Day Celebration! I will be out of town on Thursday (the actual day set aside for IKD) so we held our celebration Monday night and invited family over to join in the fun. This celebration was so fuss free and literally thrown together in 30 minutes, which means you have plenty of time to plan an Incredible Kid Day Celebration to honor your kids this Thursday!
Even though we were just having pizza for dinner (it’s been a little hectic around here) I still wanted it to feel like a fancy celebration. I set the table with the good stuff and added some sparkle with confetti, a fancy table runner and festive cupcakes. At each place setting the kids found a gold metal and a card with a personal message about why they are incredible. The blank white plates were a special project we customized and made into Incredible Kid Day Plates.
What are you waiting for, celebrate Incredible Kid Day and go tell your kids how awesome they are!
