Condo for Book Collectors

Jul 2010

From the half circle entry through the main rooms of this apartment, light cherry wood paneling recalls the art deco elegance of the twenties and thirties. The long horizontal lines of the bookshelves are not limited to the library but continue through to other rooms of this apartment high above the city.

Belvedere High Above the Sky

Mar 2010

The narrow space is treated as an open plan, unified by the sweeping gesture of the curving leather walls, expanding to the broad landscape of the presence of the city below. The animated flow of the leather surface contrasts with the rhythmic spacing of Chareau-inspired steel and onyx lamps along the length of the glass wall.

Old Train Depot

Jul 2008

Built in 1887, this long abandoned building had partially collapsed. In the 1960's it was used as a stone warehouse. The old brickwork was badly damaged and a large hole had been cut through the end wall. A Federal TEA grant to the county through the Georgia state road department (DOT), along with substantial pro bono donations, closely restored the building to its former state. On the National Register of Historic Places, it now houses the Tri-state Model Railroaders.
